Perpetuity – Your gift to the community is administered by the Foundation and becomes part of a perpetual endowment. Its income continues through the years to satisfy your philanthropic purposes. Your gift will never end.
Tax Benefits – Your donation(s) will qualify for maximum deductibility for income, gift and estate tax purposes.
Granting – You can direct your support to particular charities or causes or leave those decisions to the Foundation, which is equipped with expertise in identifying and evaluating granting needs and opportunities.
Recognition – Once your gift is made as an endowment, it can be created in your name as an endowment fund. This endowment fund becomes a permanent legacy that will be known for generations. Our donors are recognized in our annual reports and on the Foundation Web site. Conversely, anonymity can also be requested if you so desire.
Security – Funds are managed by professional asset management firms as selected by our qualified Board of Directors.
Economy – The Foundation operates from a small office with few professional staff. Administration expenses are covered by a modest charge against the income of each fund.
Professional Management – The Foundation is managed by professional staff and governed by a volunteer board of directors who are community leaders. Investments are managed by expert institutional fund managers. Higher rates of return are attracted due to the pooling of funds.
Accountability – All receipts are independently audited and fully disclosed to the public unless the donor chooses to be anonymous.
Flexibility – The Foundation has the ability to address the changing needs of the community as they arise.
Participation – The degree of participation by you and your family members is flexible. You can participate in grant decisions and the delivery of grant cheques or let the Foundation manage these functions. Interested donors may also be involved in the management and operation of the Foundation by contributing expertise on the board of directors, advisory groups, task forces and other volunteer roles.
